Barking & Dagenham College is a vibrant and highly successful College in East London with circa 12,500 students, circa 500 established staff and a turnover of £35m.  The College offers routes into learning from entry level through to MBA level, including apprenticeships, higher level apprentices, higher education and job centre plus clients.  We have technical specialist areas from level 3 and above with a broad based curriculum up to level 2.  We are immensely proud of the achievements of our students, our entrepreneurial and motivated staff team and our extensive partnership network.  The College trains circa 850 apprentices, including circa 110 higher level apprenticeships and delivers work place training, traineeships and higher level technical and professional specialisms up to MBA level in our 4 strategic vocational areas; Construction, Design & Management; Engineering including mechatronics & robotics; Digital Creative; Health & Social Care and Leadership and Management across the pan London occupational sectors.

Due to the growth in the demand for professional network infrastructure education, Barking & Dagenham College is expanding its technical delivery team. The college require a Network Infrastructure Instructor to join the electrical team. This is a permanent role.

The suitable candidate will have verifiable experience in the telecommunications and data communications infrastructure sectors and will be enthusiastic, driven, confident and flexible in their approach.

The principles of the role will involve working as part of the electrical lecturing technical training team to deliver the high quality education programs. This will include organisation of facilities and materials in preparation for program delivery, assessing students’ performance, marking assignments and working with other members of the electrical team as required to develop new program material.

Knowledge required:

  •  National/International standards and Codes of Practice within the network infrastructure sector
  •  Records and documentation requirements for network infrastructure
  •  Network topologies and design architecture
  •  Certification and qualification of network infrastructure including vendor warranty

 Previous experience required:

  •  Worked as part of an installation team
  •  Installation experience across a range of diverse projects
  •  Copper cable installation and testing experience
  •  Fibre Optic cable installation and testing experience

 Desirable technical knowledge/experience:

  • Network physical security
  • Audio visual network infrastructure
  • Biometrics
  • Wireless LAN
