Interim Youth & Community Creative Learning Manager

Barking & Dagenham College is a vibrant and highly successful College in East London with circa 12,500 students, circa 500 established staff and a turnover of £35m. The College offers routes into learning from entry level through to MBA level, including apprenticeships, higher level apprentices, higher education and job centre plus clients. We have technical specialist areas from level 3 and above with a broad based curriculum up to level 2.We are immensely proud of the achievements of our students, our entrepreneurial and motivated staff team and our extensive partnership network. The College trains circa 850 apprentices, including circa 110 higher level apprenticeships and delivers work place training, traineeships and higher level technical and professional specialisms up to MBA level in our 4 strategic vocational areas; Construction, Design & Management; Engineering including mechatronics & robotics; Digital Creative; Health & Social Care and Leadership and Management across the pan London occupational sectors.

The Broadway has a track record of managing a portfolio of projects within the Creative Learning Programme, which supports and extends the reach of work presented at the theatre. The role of the Youth & Community Creative Learning Manager is to produce imaginative and innovative projects to introduce communities to the theatre and its resources, leading to quality creative learning experiences for as many people as possible. Working closely with a range of local educational and cultural organisations, the Creative Learning Manager will develop a forward-looking programme of quality creative learning opportunities, and will develop and showcase talent, to support progression and career development. The programme will be presented in a range of spaces within The Broadway, including the main hall, function room, studios, specialist workshops, as well as off-site. Experience should include production of creative events, including project management and budgeting.

The Broadway is a 340 seat performing arts venue in the heart of Barking, East London, presenting a wide range of professional touring shows of all performance genres. The Broadway is the venue for many annual shows presented performing arts schools and companies from across the region and is home to Barking & Dagenham College’s Performing Arts School where many actors, dancers, musicians as well as theatre technicians, producers, directors, etc. start their vocational training for careers in performing arts. The Broadway is operated by Barking & Dagenham College.
